Eat the Seasons

 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

The 2025 CSA Season is Open

How does a CSA work?

The Community invests money in the farm at the start of the season, and in return gains exclusive access to our curated field Share, a weekly diverse selection of vegetables.

The CSA Share includes plenty of classics (think squash, tomatoes, cucumbers) but also some specialty crops not commonly seen in the store (like Treviso Radicchio, Japanese Sprouting Cauliflower, Red Bok Choy, an array of heirloom tomatoes) and even a few grown by one of our local partner farms (maybe some shiitake mushrooms or shishito peppers).  Each week we gather a selection of 5-9 vegetables, pack them in a bag for you, and you collect them at your pick up location.

We offer two 10 week seasons:

  • High Summer Share, May 27 - August 2, 2025

  • Fall Harvest Share, September 18 - November 22, 2025

And two pickup locations:

  • Thursdays, 4-6 PM at Piazza Italian Market in Easton, MD

  • Saturdays, 8AM-12PM at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market in Lewes, DE

This community supported model gives you beautiful, locally grown, seasonal vegetables and helps our small farm invest in the tools we need to bring you this bounty and steward our land. The timing of â€‹ your investment in the winter and early spring is vital to the sustainability of the farm. December through March is when most of the money for the farm is spent on seeds, plants, organic soil amendments, repairs, and infrastructure improvement.  We literally couldn't do it without you.

“This CSA delivery single-handedly pulled me out of a COVID despair spiral. Receiving beautiful, unusual, delicious vegetables each week has reinvigorated my cooking and helped me appreciate this extended time at home. It’s been a bright spot in my week, and a way to tap into creativity and inspiration.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  When you join a CSA you are making a commitment to supporting a smaller scale, but local and resilient food system.  You invest upfront and in return receive a weekly supply of the freshest vegetables possible, harvested literally hours before you pick them up. CSA support is essential for many small farms because it gives us the capital and stability we need to start our season.

Is a CSA for me?

A CSA is a commitment not just to our farm, but to yourself and a lifestyle of preparing fresh, seasonal food almost every day.  This doesn't suit everyone's lifestyle.  If, however, you love to cook and experiment and learn some new things about your food, a CSA is a wonderful addition to your kitchen.  It is sized for a family so if you are in a 1-2 person household you might consider splitting your share with a friend. This is also a good idea if you tend to travel a lot through the year, or just need a little more flexibility.

Is your farm Organic?

While we are not a certified organic farm, we do use exclusively organic practices, and take the stewardship of the farm ecosystem with the deepest seriousness. We don't use any synthetic chemicals at the farm.  Feeding the soil food web is at the core of our growing practices. We are always striving to bring the farm and the ecosystem into balance on our path toward abundance and quality.

What Will Be In the CSA Share?

This is always a tough question to answer because, while I do an awful lot of work planning out the year, I can't say for sure what each separate week will hold.  Part of the experience of the CSA is becoming a partner with me in submitting to the vagueries and whims of the land.  In Japan, each week is it's own season, and I look at the weekly curation of your share with this thought in mind.  I try to give you a good mix of things you will be likely familiar with and can readily use, with one or two surprises each week.  But I always give guidance on how to use anything that might be out of your wheelhouse.  I highly suggest taking a scroll through the farm Instagram feed to get a look at what the CSA shares have looked like through the season and the years.

What happens if I can't pick up a share?

If for some reason you can't make it to the pick up one week, this can be a great opportunity to share with your friends or neighbors and have them pick up instead!  If an emergency comes up and you can't make it to Piazza, you can usually pick up the next day, but it really helps everyone if you do your best to make the pickup each week or ask a friend to stop by.
